Magazines expanding in to online

handh.bmp Leading UK publishing house IPC today launched a new homes portal House To Home, to work with its offline home interest titles such as Home & Gardens, Ideal Home and Living etc.

Following their launch of the magazine linked fashion site In Style Magazine in April, House to Home features interactive decorating tools, extensive contact books, RSS feed options and an, as yet unpopulated, blog section.

Consumer giant Unilever is on board as a key advertiser for the launch which is backed by an integrated on, and offline, marketing campaign.

Online lifestyle magazines operate in an increasingly competitive landscape as BBC announcements today confirm. The BBC plan increased magazine-style sites no doubt to include home and lifestlye, and certainly leveraging their huge content back catalogue.

IPC are also pledging their commitment to digital expansion – with chief executive Sylvia Auton promising ‘a huge year for IPC Media’s digital new product development’, and talk of increased interactivity and facilities for online communities.
