A legal battle that did much to highlight the global role of new media has been settled out of court.
Animator and 7 Seconds of Love singer Joel Veitch sought to defend his intellectual property after My Space fans praised his work on a South American Coca Cola Light ad”¦that he hadn’t even seen. His Argentine followers were quick to point out the similarities (animated cats in ninja suits and a soundtrack similar to the band’s material) between the advertisement and a music video Veitch created for the track “˜Ninja‘ which was released on YouTube.
All parties were happy with the settlement which included donations to a number of charities chosen by the band.
