DailyMotion, one of the most visited sites in the UK (according to Alexa the site currently ranks at 59th) announced this week that it now enables HD video uploading and sharing.
The DailyMotion’s own blog reveals that since High-Definition has been around for quite a sometime with cameras and creative contents are increasingly submitted in HD, it makes sense to support HD digital videos online. In addition to their HD player, they’ve also added new features like real-time seeking, in-player embed and email tools, and greater user control over the quality of the video being streamed.
To add to the point, I also think that DailyMotion offers far better sound quality than YouTube, where audio can be very muffled sometimes. A recent article on ReadWriteWeb discusses why Youtube is lagging behind from rest of the video sites in terms of quality and features.
As a word of advice, the team at DailyMotion suggests that users should have 2 Mbps or more in connection speed, as HD is both bandwidth and processor intensive.
