Last night’s London bloggers meetup provided yet another chance to meet other bloggers informally – from the well established Catwalk Queen, to group newbie Tony Scott. Also had the pleasure of meeting Mirona from Cheezy Cheeky - a great and very fun photoblog that has been on my radar for a while – and some folks from user reviews site Qype, who were kind enough to pay for the evening’s drinks. In return, I’ll be signing up and reviewing the venue later on.
We were also treated to an interesting presentation from Robert Lands, a partner at media law firm Finer Stephens Innocent. Bloggers in the UK aren’t given the same protection against legal action as those in the US and the talk highlighted some of the key legal issues facing bloggers including risk of defamation, linking and infringement of copyright, and notice & takedown policies. The presentation is available online, and there’s a more detailed synopsis of the content at Meetup organiser Andy Bargery’s Marketing Blagger blog.
