There’s not really much that’s red or shiny in our blog archives, but this press release gives me an excuse to post a suitable image. Today, Wi-Fi TV is opening the first ever Internet TV station devoted exclusively to live auctions. In each auction, bids are accepted for 30 days, before concluding with a 90 minute webcast.
Apparently, they’ve got over two-million dollars worth of swag up for grabs in its opening auction lots, including a Picasso lithograph and a shiny red Ferrari*. However, I’m not able to verify this as the site fell over when I tried to register. Although it calls itself “Social Internet TV”, users have to sign up to read the blog, search for channel content or generally find out anything about the site itself. To top it off, after a few minutes, a small icon appears on the top right of the screen appears with the text “end of trial period” - not exactly social.
Wi-Fi TV also claims to be the “only place on the Internet where you can watch hundreds of TV stations and chat with others watching the same program.“ I guess they’re not reading mashable.
