Becta
Using blogs, forums and Twitter to promote technology in learning
The brief:
Becta (a government organisation that promotes technology in learning) wanted to engage with parents and teachers online, in order to raise awareness of the positive role technology can play in children’s education.
What we did:
An audit of the social media landscape provided key insights that shaped the digital PR strategy. We built a blog and recruited child psychologist Tanya Bryon to post on topical parent issues, including the findings of Becta’s report (developed by The Red Consultancy) on the after-school communications challenges between parents and children. Activity was supported via a Twitter feed and outreach to parent and teacher blogs and forums to drive traffic to Becta’s website.
Results:
Digital PR contributed to more than 11,000 hits to Becta’s website in just a couple of weeks and delivered 15 blog and forum posts for Becta, with 13 direct links to their website. Around 700 people became followers of @nextgenlearning on Twitter.
